Box from Reclaimed Wood

San - A simple box made salvaged wood.  When I worked in a warehouse many pallets would drift by, knowing what to look for I was able to scavenge the rare exotic woods that had escaped the eyes of others.

Two different types of pallet wood are used in this box, my best guess is the dark wood being Teak and the light White Maple.  The inlay on the lid symbolizes a dichotomy, it is butterflied and flipped to show a similar yet opposite relationship.

The hinges are made out of wood, with nail pins.  The back of the lid is slightly raised for clearance.  Making beautiful objects out of what others see as waste has profound meaning to me.  This box was a great lesson in crafting a functional lid.
